Frequently Asked Questions

How can I purchase tickets prior to the event?
We have several options for pre-registration beginning August 2008:

Online: New for Expo 2008 is an online registration option. Please click here to access the external registration site where you can purchase tickets and download and print your transaction number and directions to the event. You will then bring the transaction number to the "Will Call" table on the day of the event and receive your wristbands to enter the Expo. We will have several "Will Call" tables open and expect very short waiting times to receive your wristband.

US Mail or Fax: Alternatively, you can still register by US mail or fax using either the registration form on the invitation you received or downloading the PDF form. If you choose one of these options, we will mail your confirmation letter, directions to the event, and wristband to your home.

Mail to: Wildlife Conservation Network
Attn: Events Registration
25745 Bassett Lane
Los Altos, CA 94022
Fax to: 650-949-3733
Phone: Finally, you may also call into the office at 650-949-3533 and register over the phone. You must provide credit card payment information, Visa or Master Card only, when you call. We will then mail your confirmation letter, directions to the event, and wristband to your home.

Can I buy tickets at the door for the Expo?
Yes, tickets can be purchased at the door on Saturday, October 4. The price is the same as advanced purchase tickets.

Is my Expo ticket purchase a tax-deductible donation?
No, the Fair Market Value of the event is the face value of the ticket. However any donation made in excess of the ticket purchase price is fully tax-deductible. 100% of designated donations to WCN-supported projects goes directly to the field.

Why is there no Gala dinner on the Friday night prior to the Expo this year?
We are taking a break from the Gala dinner this year. Instead, we have decided to host a small and intimate reception for our most generous donors; those that gave us $10,000 or more in 2007 and/or 2008. We hope that you will still join us at the Garden Party which is always a great day filled with music, conversation, and delicious food.

Is the Expo easy to find?
Yes! The Expo is located near AT&T Park, at the eastern edge of the city. It can be easily accessed from the major freeways and public transportation. Please click here for directions.

Is there parking at the Expo?
Yes! There is plenty of parking for Expo guests and participants. There are two large parking garages in the area. The Mission Bay Conference Center (Expo venue) has its own attached multi-level garage. Parking is $2.75 per hour. There is a second surface-level garage located one block east for $1.50/ day but this lot has minimal spaces available and we can not guarantee its availability.

Will there be food at the Expo?
Yes, there will be snacks and drinks available for purchase all day until 3:30pm. A boxed lunch will be available for purchase for $15 at the event. Lunch will be available from 12:00-1:00pm.

Why are there two venues at the Expo with simultaneous presentations?
We recognize that this is a frustration for some people who want to see all the conservationists speak. This format is necessary to accommodate all our speakers in a one-day format. However, the good news is that DVD's of all the Expo presentations will be available for sale shortly after the Expo ($50 for the complete set). To order a set, please contact Eve Schaeffer at eve@wildnet.org or 650-949-3533.

Can I bring my kids?
Children are welcome at the Expo, however, the presentations are geared towards adults. Children over 8 years old may find some of the presentations interesting. Children must be supervised at all times.

UPDATE on
Rabies Outbreak
EWCP team creates barrier
to save rare wolf
November 2008 - In response to the deadly outbreak of rabies in the Bale Mountain wolf population in October, the EWCP team devised a plan to vaccinate wolves in key areas of the Web Valley, thus creating a critical "barrier" to stop the spread of this deadly virus. If left unchecked, 2/3 of the population could be affected. More
